Soft, non-slip rubber flooring- as it should be with no grout!
Why Choose Rubber Bathroom Flooring?
One of the big advantages of rubber bathroom flooring is the way it feels.
Durable, resistant, and resilient, these materials can take a beating, but unlike hard tile they still provide you with a plush, cushy comfort that can make your bathroom more inviting.
At the same time this soft demeanour reduces the risk of injuries that can occur if someone slips on a puddle or slick spilled soap.
That makes it particularly useful in children’s bathrooms and elder care facilities.
While the surface of rubber tiles are flat, they also have a subtle texture to them which can give a little bit of traction in wet bathroom environments.
Normally, Pastille Alpha is recommended as it has an R10 anti-slip rating.
*Use in a shower tray though, is not recommended due to chemicals used while cleaning that could cause degradation of rubber. It must be cleaned with a neutral pH cleaner such as our REMP Hyperclean
Slipping and falling in the bathroom is a common occurrence – most of us have done this at least once in our lives.
However, with the right type of bathroom flooring, not only do you reduce your chance of slipping, you also protect yourself from the risk of incurring injuries.
We offer Dalsouple rubber, which is an effective and affordable flooring solution to minimise the risk of slipping.
It’s also low maintenance, easy to clean and waterproof, making it perfect for the bathroom.
Can you use it as a shower tray?
Short answer – NO!
There can be problems if the tile is laid incorrectly, as well as allowing for run-off into drainage areas.
Also the various chemicals used in showers (yes that includes nail polish and nail polish remover acetone) can blemish or compromise the impervious nature of rubber and its appearance. It may “spot” with acid attack.
Our recommendation is to use stainless steel in a shower tray. Its easy to clean and has no tiresome cleaning associated with grouted ceramic tile.
However, the Dalsouple has been used on interior shower walls quite effectively without problems, but it is outside our warranty and at the owners risk..
Please note that although rubber is designed to offer a good degree of slip resistance underfoot in dry conditions, it can still be slippery when wet if Uni Smooth flooring is being used as there in no texture.
To minimise the risk of slippage, it is a good idea to use bathmats when installed in a domestic bathroom for instance.
